Custom-Made Dentures Restore Your Bite and Smile

At Clifford Family Dentistry, we proudly offer a range of state-of-the-art dentures to our Orlando patients. In the past dentures, often fit loosely and did not fully function. Today, exquisitely crafted dentures look highly lifelike. Traditional removable dentures fit comfortably around patients’ gums. For even greater stability, Dr. James Magee III also offers implant-supported restorations. Even if you wear a full overdenture, this denture can be retained on implants for increased stability and strength. Contact Clifford Family Dentistry to learn more about dentures and to find out which type of restoration may be right for you.

What Are Dentures?

There are two types of removable dentures available at our Orlando office. Full dentures replace an entire upper or lower dental arch. If you are missing all of your teeth, or if you have widespread dental damage, Dr. Magee may recommend this type of restoration. If necessary, he will gently extract your damaged teeth before fitting you with a denture. A full restoration has a gum-colored plastic base that will fit around your gum ridge. Dr. Magee will take impressions and photos of your mouth to ensure that your dentures fit firmly and comfortably. Denture adhesive will provide additional stability.

Traditional partial dentures are also removable. Like full dentures, they have a plastic base, carefully selected to match the natural shade of your soft tissues. Partial dentures also fit around your gums. You will typically use adhesive to hold the restoration in place. Additionally, small clips or other attachments will connect to your nearby teeth. Your denture will be carefully crafted, so these clasps will be virtually undetectable.

Implant-Retained Dentures

For the ultimate in stability and aesthetics, Dr. Magee also offers implant-retained dentures. If you choose this type of restoration, he will use three-dimensional imaging to examine your jawbone and choose the best locations for your implant posts. Then he will place four or more implants to hold the full restoration. In many cases, he will position the posts at an angle for minimal impact to your surrounding tissues. When your bone and gums have healed, he will attach the final restoration.

Dental implants can support a full or a partial denture. Dr. Magee can also convert your existing dentures into an implant-supported restoration.

Benefits of Implant-Retained Dentures

Although our removable dentures are highly lifelike, there are a number of reasons to choose state-of-the-art implant dentures.

  • You will never have to worry about dental implants slipping out of place. You will even be able to eat foods that are typically off limits to denture wearers.
  • Dental implants are the only type of tooth restoration that can stop jawbone degeneration. They can prevent the “sunken” look that often characterizes long-time denture wearers.
  • Implant-supported dentures could last the rest of your life. Additionally, you will not have to get denture adjustments to accommodate a changing jawbone.
  • With the incredible stability and the lifelike appearance of implant-supported dentures, you will be able to smile, laugh, and talk freely.
